Fine & Gross

Motor Activites

Fine motor skills help children perform crucial tasks like reaching, grasping, and moving objects. Through fine motor skill development, children learn to use tools like crayons, chalk, pencils, and scissors to help develop hand-eye coordination.  Fine motor skills help kids learn and develop handwriting and drawing skills.  As children master these skills they become more independent and their self-esteem grows.

Gross motor skills gives children the opportunity to use their larger muscles in the body with physical activity. Using the play structure, ride on toys, and different activites and games to facilitate jumping, leaping, running, climbing, and hopping.  Working on gross motor skills helps gain strength and confidence as well as developing a health lifestyle.

Learning Circle

In the learning circle we start the day with a morning song and some Yoga to get our mind and body ready for learning.  During the morning circle time we do the calendar and weather.  We return to the circle throughout the day to help with activity transition with a curriculum themed story and music or song. Circle activities are designed to enrich social skills and develop positive relationships between kids through engaging and fun activities.

Arts and Crafts

Art allows kids to develop their creativity which is important throughout their lives. By doing something creative, you allow for self-expression and this lets kids express (and cope with) their feelings. It also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

Art and craft activities give kids a sense of achievement and allow them to take pride in their work which builds confidence

Kids get to try new things and also develop their “self-regulation skills” (e.g. when waiting for paint or glue to dry). This helps them develop patience, which all kids need help with!

Social Emotional Skills

At Little Learners, we strive to create an environment where children can learn and grow. Our play-based curriculum is designed to help toddlers and preschoolers develop social and emotional skills, build confidence, and foster a love of learning.

We believe that young minds are like sponges, and that children learn best through exploration and discovery. Miss Katie creates a warm and nurturing environment that encourages children to explore their interests and develop their individual skills. We want to provide our students with all the tools they need to become successful and confident learners.
